In light of the recent bushfires in the Cessnock local government area, along with the ongoing dry conditions, Cessnock City Council has decided to cancel the fireworks planned for Carols in the Park this Friday night.
Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent is planning to put forward a Mayoral Minute at the next council meeting to see the funding allocated for the fireworks to be donated to the Rural Fire Service.
Council would like to thank Ka-Boom Fireworks for their understanding.
The carols will still go ahead at Baddeley Park this Friday, with entertainment by Santa's Little Helpers, a 14-piece big band comprised of talented musicians from across the Hunter; as well as food and refreshment stalls and of course a visit from Santa himself!
Gates open at 6pm with entertainment starting at 6.45pm.
