Residents will be able to dispose of up to four mattresses or bases - free of charge - at the council works depot carpark from 8am to 12pm that day.
Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent said the mattress drop-off day is a popular initiative.
"We see many residents taking advantage of this day. It's good for our residents who get to rid themselves of an unwanted mattress and great for our environment where 75% of the materials will be recycled," he said.
This event is for Cessnock local government area residents only, and proof of address is required.
Mattress drop-offs must also be made using a vehicle as there will be no pedestrian access.
The works depot is located at 2082 Old Maitland Road, Cessnock.
If you're unable to attend, mattresses can be taken to the Cessnock Waste Management Centre for disposal for a fee of $33.
