Plans are well underway for Cessnock West Public School's centenary celebrations, which will take place next month.
Current and former students, staff and community members are welcome to join the celebrations on Friday, March 27.
The time capsule that was buried at the school's 75th anniversary fete in 1995 will be unearthed, followed by olden-day activities, Devonshire tea, a picnic and classroom tours.
A reunion dinner (for over-18s only) will be held at Cessnock Leagues Club on Saturday, March 28. Tickets are now available from the school or at cwps-centenary.weebly.com.
Principal Ruth Goodwin said the school is looking forward to sharing the memories that have shaped its journey over the past century.
"Providing quality education in Cessnock for 100 years is a pretty exciting thing," she said.
Two books are being published to commemorate the milestone - one on the school's history (researched by former librarian Garry Hamilton) and the other a photo compilation.
