Great weather, exciting new events and popular old favourites proved a winning combination for the 2020 Cessnock Show.
The show was held on Friday and Saturday, with about 4000 people attending over the two days, resulting in record gate takings.
Cessnock Showground spokesperson John Crossley said it was the "biggest and best" show for many years, putting its success down to the good weather and the variety of entertainment that was on offer.
Woodchopping made a triumphant return after several years' absence, while traditional agricultural displays such as sheep shearing and cattle herding drew much interest from the crowd, and the horse competition fielded its largest contingent for many years.
Wrestling made a successful debut on the Friday evening; the motorbike displays and demolition derby proved a big drawcard once again, and Saturday night's fireworks left people in awe.
"People are still raving about it today," Mr Crossley said on Monday morning.
