All activities on the Cessnock Youth Week program, which was to run from March 14 to April 9, have been postponed until further notice.
This year's program featured skate jams, a trivia night, a cooking competition, a TedX-style talk and Youth Fest, which was to include live music, amusements, food stalls and an outdoor cinema.
The Cessnock Youth Week committee will meet next term to discuss possible future dates.
"We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the 2020 calendar, in particular our youth ambassadors for all their hard work and dedication. We look forward to the events running in the future," Cessnock City Council youth services coordinator Elki Johnson said.
Several events at Cessnock City Council venues have also been affected by the crowd restrictions.
All groups, programming and events at Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries have been cancelled until further notice (although the libraries will remain open for their scheduled hours).
Tim Costello's author talk at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (which was part of the Newcastle Writers Festival) has been cancelled, while at least seven other shows at CPAC have been postponed.
Council has cancelled its community drop-in sessions for its Draft 2020-25 Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy.
Council's general manager Lotta Jackson said the community needs to work together and follow the advice from NSW Health and the Federal Government.
"We all have a role to play. This includes not panic buying or removing toilet paper from community facilities for your own consumption," Ms Jackson said.
"We're encouraging people to shop locally, rather than leaving the area.
"Council staff will be meeting daily to discuss the latest developments and allow for us to respond quickly if required."
