The inaugural Cessnock Walks Kawuma has continued to give back to the community, with the committee making substantial donations to the Cessnock District Rescue Squad and two local schools.

The walk against domestic violence was held in November last year, with about 600 people taking part.
Part of Vincent Street was closed as the walk made its way from Cessnock Performing Arts Centre to the TAFE grounds, with the rescue squad lending a hand with traffic control.
Walk committee member Sonia Sharpe said if not for the rescue squad's help, the walk would not have gone ahead.
Rescue squad member Trevor Milgate said the squad would use the donation to replace its lighting equipment.
The walk committee also made donations to Cessnock and Mount View High schools, in recognition of their memorable performances at the post-walk event in the TAFE grounds.
The donations were made possible thanks to the support of the Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network and the Department of Communities and Justice's Cessnock Place Plan Project.
Cessnock Walks Kawuma 2020 is scheduled for Wednesday, November 25 (pending the outcome of the coronavirus crowd bans).
