If you're feeling sick, the club urges you to stay at home - no matter how much you have missed the footy during the COVID-19 shutdown.
The same message applies if you have any cold and flu symptoms; if you have recently returned from Victoria or overseas, or if you have been in contact with returned travellers.
Patrons will be required to sign in at the gate, use hand sanitiser, stay at least 1.5 metres from other people and remain seated at all times (unless going to the canteen, bar or toilet).
Goannas secretary Cherie Douglas said it's about keeping the players, spectators, volunteers and the community safe.
"If you're not well, don't come," she said.
"We will be doing everything we can, we will follow all of the guidelines, but people need to be responsible too.
"We have plenty of space, so please be mindful of that and choose seating away from other people.
"We do not want anyone shaking hands or hugging or kissing."
The ground will undergo extra cleaning; distance markers will be in place at the gate and bar and canteen lines, and patrons are welcome to bring a chair if they wish to sit on the hill.
Ms Douglas also encourages spectators to download the COVID-Safe app to their phones.
"We want to protect our club, and for people to embrace us being back, and give exposure to our sponsors," she said.
"If we can keep the Goannas safe, and our visitors safe, then hopefully we can have 10 rounds of footy."
The Goannas will field three teams in the revised, 10-round Newcastle Rugby League competition - first grade, reserve grade and ladies' Blues Tag - while the Macquarie Scorpions under-19s side will also play at Cessnock's home and away fixtures this year.
The ladies' game gets underway at 11am Saturday, followed by under-19s at 12.15pm, reserve grade at 1.30pm and first grade at 3pm.
