People aged 12 to 18 who live, study or work in the Cessnock LGA, and who want to make positive change in their community, are welcome to apply.
Youth services coordinator Emily Woodbury said CYCOS is excited to launch the program.
"The Youth Ambassadors Program is designed to give young people in Cessnock a voice and a platform to feel valued," she said.
"We are hoping to engage a diverse group of young people aged 12-18 years old that will represent the needs, ideas, passions and concerns of young people living, working or studying in our LGA.
"Young people are an asset to our community and we are committed to ensuring they have a greater sense of belonging and connection to our town."
Ms Woodbury said this initiative is an expansion of the Youth Week Ambassadors Program, which was rolled out in early 2020.
"We were lucky enough to have a group of 10 young people who contributed to the planning and promotion of Youth Week activities that were scheduled for delivery in April," she said.
"Unfortunately due to COVID-19 many of these activities were unable to go ahead, however we were proud to have a youth-led approach that guided and supported ideas and decisions throughout the Youth Week planning process."
Ms Woodbury said the new ambassadors will be involved in a number of initiatives such as event planning, consultation and collaboration, public speaking, workshops and training.
Applications close August 23 and can be completed online at cessnock.nsw.gov.au. Contact Emily on 4993 4356 for more information.
