Bathurst Charles Sturt University graduate Leilani Vakaahi is looking for love and will be among the contestants on the latest series of The Bachelor.

The eighth season of the hit show premiers on Wednesday night and features 23 women who are looking for love with bachelor Locky Gilbert, he of Survivor Australia fame.

Ms Vakaahi, 27, completed a double degree in journalism and commercial radio at CSU and now works as a partnerships manager.

"I'm ready to fall in love with someone who's ready to fall in love with me," she said of why she applied for the show.

Ms Vakaahi has Tongan heritage, grew up in Forster and moved to Bathurst when she was 18 years old to attend CSU. She now lives in Clovelly in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs.

She said attending CSU helped prepare her for her time in the Bachelor mansion.

"I lived in a co-ed dorm at university and have always lived in share houses so I'm confident I will be fine sharing the mansion," she said.

"However I'm a big personality and I can only guess there will be 20-something other strong-headed women so it does make me nervous."

Ms Vakaahi said her perfect man is self-motivated, career-driven and supportive.

"He'd like to have a good time and also have a naughty side," she said.

She plans on winning the bachelor's heart by being herself.

"I know I have a lot to offer someone who's willing to get to know me and have fun with me," she said.

"I just want to be authentic and hope he loves the real me.

"I give a lot of myself to my relationships and would do anything for someone I love, plus I'm a good cook.

"I'm the kind of girl you'd take out with your friends and home to meet your parents."

The Bachelor premiers on the Network 10 at 7.30pm on Wednesday.
