There are currently six off-leash areas in the Cessnock LGA: Greta Central Park, Miller Park at Branxton, Stanford Merthyr Park, Varty Park at Weston, and Hall Park (Chidgey Street) and Manning Park (Blackwood Avenue) in Cessnock.
Council is conducting a survey that will inform the strategy it is developing for off-leash areas.
Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent encourages residents who use these areas to do the survey and assist council in identifying opportunities for improvement.
"We want our residents and their pets to be able to play, exercise and socialise in a safe and accessible way," Cr Pynsent said.
"Whether it's bins, seating or shade we want to hear about improvements that could make your trip to the dog park even more enjoyable."
Once the strategy is developed, residents will have another opportunity to provide feedback during the public exhibition period.
The survey closes on September 27. Visit cessnock.nsw.gov.au/haveyoursay to participate.
