How about a furry four-legged friend - or this week there's a duck looking for a forever home from the Hunter RSPCA.
River is three years old but is a very shy boy. He needs a quiet home, ideally without children or other pets, where he can feel comfortable.
This is Vixen, a three month old female Australian dingo pup. Dingoes have special needs and she will need a family that has time to spend on training her, as well as a yard with two metre high fences.
Quakkers is a three year old male Muscovy Duck. Ducks need lots of water, both to drink and to wash and a secure pen, safe from predators.
Cara is four years old and a very sweet, affectionate girl. She came to the shelter as a stray and loves all the attention her humans can give.
At nearly 12 years, Dotti is a mature girl who likes the quieter things ... lazing in the sunshine and bonding with her humans for starters.
Tikki is a female tabby, aged three. She can seem aloof at first, but is affectionate when she gets to know you. She would prefer a quiet home.
Adira is eight months old and a bit of a scaredy-cat. She needs somewhere to hide and feel safe but loves to curl up with her humans.
Ginny has recovered from cat flu and, at 13, is an indoor only girl. She needs a quiet home.
If you want to meet one of these pets give the shelter a call on 4939 1555. The adoption process is a little different due to COVID-19.
The RSPCA Hunter Shelter is located at 6-10 Burlington Place (Cnr Racecourse Rd), Rutherford, and is open six days - from 9.30am to 3.30pm - closed Tuesdays.
