The Cessnock Christian Christmas Day Luncheon will not go ahead in 2020 after an alternative venue could not be sought.
As reported in the Advertiser two weeks ago, the event was looking most likely to be cancelled unless the committee could find a venue that could fit 120 guests and 40 volunteers, with enough space for social distancing, by December 4.

The event - which provides free Christmas lunch to Cessnock's homeless, disadvantaged and isolated people - has been held at the Wesley Hall for several years.
The committee put the call out to find a new venue, but nothing suitable had emerged by last Friday - the deadline they set in order to secure meals, donations and volunteers.
"We will all have to pray we will be fine for 2021," committee member Helen Dyball said.
