The Bulls took top spot with a 2-1 away win over Newcastle on Sunday but are the only team to have played four games in the competition's opening three weeks.

The table is decidedly lopsided due to the postponements and reschedulings caused by changing border restrictions.

Perth are yet to play a game and their season will start on Wednesday against Adelaide while Melbourne Victory have just the one game under their belt.

That said, the Bulls were happy to snare three points, given they followed their opening-round win with a loss and a draw, and coach Ante Milicic is confident their best is well and truly to come.

The Bulls benefited from imports Loic Puyo - who produced a spectacular bicycle kick goal - and Matt Derbyshire scoring in the ninth and 23rd minutes but coughed up a goal to Newcastle's Valentino Yuel in the 43rd minute.

"We're nowhere near our best, we know we will improve," Milicic said

Macarthur now have 12 days before their next game and will look to keep match fitness through either an in-house fixture or a friendly against an NPL team.

Meanwhile, Melbourne City and Western United are eagerly awaiting confirmation of their next fixtures after their derby clash on Saturday night.

The A-League clubs are expecting to learn their upcoming fixtures on Monday - with a trip on the road for Perth Glory looking likely amid Western Australia's border closures.

The Glory are currently scheduled to play Western United in Geelong on Saturday night.

United will be keen to bounce back after Jamie Maclaren handed them their fifth loss in as many clashes with City on Saturday night.

Ivan Vujica gave United the lead in the 22nd minute, with Craig Noone levelling the scores 10 minutes later before Maclaren finally struck in the 84th to settle the tie 2-1.

Earlier on Saturday, James Troisi was both villain and hero as Sydney FC and Western Sydney drew 1-1.

The Wanderers recruit gave away a penalty, which Kosta Barbarouses converted, but went on to score the equaliser and maintain Western Sydney's undefeated five-game run in the Sydney derby.

Western Sydney will have to recover quickly as they head to Gosford to take on the second-placed Central Coast on Tuesday night.

The mid-week fixtures will continue when Newcastle play Brisbane on Wednesday evening, before Perth kick off their season against Adelaide later that night.
