Hunter Valley Airshow is ready for take-off at Cessnock Airport on March 13-14, with a blockbuster weekend of family entertainment both in the skies and on the ground.

Organised by Paul Bennet Airshows (the biggest civilian airshow organiser in the southern hemisphere), the event is intended to inspire the next generation of aviators, while showcasing what the Hunter Valley has to offer.

"Visitors will witness an epic aerial display including a Corsair, Spitfire, Hurricane, Wolf Pitts Pro, the RAAF Roulettes and many many more," event spokesperson Andy McLennan said.

"On the ground you will find a local beer and wine garden, markets, street food, amusements rides, a car show, military vehicles and the Hot Wheels Stunt team offering up a drift racing display on the runway.

"The event appeals to a large audience, from families to aviation enthusiasts, rev heads to anyone who is just curious. There is entertainment to suit all tastes and a few jaw-dropping stunts that will wow everyone present; one involving a motorbike, plane and a jump - I'll let you put it all together."

The event started in 2015 at Maitland airport, but as the number of attendees grew a new location was sought at Cessnock Airport.

"With more space the event evolved from a simple airshow to an aviation festival," Andy explained.

"With over 12 months of no major events, the airshow and aviation industry has come to a stand still.

"There have been many challenges to get this show off the ground, ensuring we are doing everything we can to run a COVID-safe event. We are just super excited to be able to put on an epic show again."

Cessnock Airport is located at 40 Grady Road, Pokolbin, with free parking available across the two days.

Gates open at 9am each day but this event may sell out, so purchasing online is highly recommended to save disappointment.
