Cessnock City councillors, council staff, federal and state government representatives along with community members celebrated the official opening on Wednesday.
Cessnock City mayor Bob Pynsent called the park a spectacular community asset that has exceeded all expectations.
"It's no surprise that every time I drive past it's full of residents and visitors with huge smiles on their faces," he said.
"Whether they are enjoying time as a family, some outdoor exercise, shooting hoops, taking in the view of the Brokenback Ranges or cooking up a barbecue.
"Bridges Hill Park Playground is a special place everyone in our community can go and enjoy."
Some of the highlights include Indigenous theming, the viewing platform, new pathways improving connectivity to Cessnock CBD, the children's bicycle track and huge sky tower.
"The park is now one of the city's greatest assets and is a great credit to council and its workforce," Federal Member for the Hunter Joel Fitzgibbon added.
