Cessnock Bicycle Company and Saddler's Creek Wines have teamed up again to host a charity ride for the Rural Fire Service on Sunday, June 13.
The event will support the Central (Cessnock) and Millfield RFS brigades, with representatives of both brigades in attendance on the day.
The first Ride for RFS was held in December 2019, just a couple of months after the bike shop opened, and in the midst of the Black Summer bushfire crisis.
It attracted 40 riders and raised $1100.
Cessnock Bicycle Company owner Steve Whitby said they chose the June long weekend for the second edition of the charity ride, because it is traditionally a busy weekend in the Hunter Valley, and a quieter time for the RFS.
He said it's an event for "every type of cyclist", with road, gravel, mountain bike and women's group rides planned.
A donation of $20 at the gate will get you the event wristband, which includes a coffee and a bacon and egg roll when your ride group returns to the Marrowbone Road winery.
There will be raffle prizes and giveaways on the day from event sponsors and local businesses.
Gates will open at Saddler's Creek at 7am for parking on site, and all ride groups will leave at 8am for a 9.30am return (except for the mountain bike ride, which departs from Cessnock Bicycle Company at 8am).
