The company declined to comment when contacted by the Advertiser for this story, but a sign posted in Kingsway Plaza says the supermarket will could be closed by the end of this week.
"Dear customers, it is with sadness and regret that we inform you that this store will be closing for business. We will be clearing stocks in the coming weeks and plan to close on or about Sunday, 13th June," the sign says.
"Ritchies and the Team would like to thank you for your loyal patronage over many years and wish you all the best for the future."
An advertisement in today's Advertiser says the store's closing down sale starts June 9, with 50 percent off storewide until all stock is gone.
Kurri Kurri District Business Chamber president Kerry Hallett said it was sad to see the store close, particularly for its long-time customers and nearby businesses who would benefit from passing trade.
The closure leaves Kurri Kurri with two supermarkets - Coles and Aldi.
