Cessnock Business Chamber invites the community to join its inaugural Car Scavenger Rally on Sunday, July 4.
Teams will visit businesses and sights through Cessnock, Pokolbin and surrounding areas, collecting clues and collateral along the way.
Chamber president Allan Davies said it's sure to be a great morning out.
"We thought it would be a fun way to get families involved, and get people out during winter," he said.
"It will lead us through town, past members' businesses to pick up clues, and there will be a sausage sizzle at the end at a surprise location."
A 'slowest car' rally, the event will be timed and monitored to make sure no-one speeds.
It will depart Vincent Street Kitchen and Bar at 9.30am. Entry is $20 per person or $50 per car. Money raised will be used to support local businesses via the chamber's many initiatives (which include the Cessnock Customer Service Awards, the Cessnock Stomp Festival and the Laneways Project).
