The choir competition was set to be held at St Philip's Christian College from August 16 to 20, but has been called off due to the current COVID restrictions.
However, the organisers remain hopeful that the public eisteddfod will go ahead in the September school holidays, after last year's event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
For the first time in its 104-year history, the eisteddfod's dance section will be held at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre.
Groups will compete on September 19 while the solo sections will be held from September 20 to 24.
The vocal, instrumental, speech and drama sections will take place at Abermain Plaza Hall on September 25 and 26.
