Event organiser Paul Humphreys said it was a difficult decision to cancel the event, which was planned for September 4, after staging a postponed event in 2020 which ran at a substantial loss.
"With current restrictions around Greater Sydney ending so close to our date, we just can't risk a similar situation to last year, where no Sydneysiders could attend," Mr Humphreys said on Wednesday, prior to the Hunter Valley going into a seven-day lockdown.
"There is so much planning and expense in the lead up, we just can't risk it any more.
"The local Wollombi property owners, community and Laguna Fire Brigade have been very supportive.
"Riders who were entered in the event have been notified."
Staged from the back paddock of Wollombi Tavern, the next Wollombi Wild Ride is set down for September 3, 2022. Stay tuned to www.wollombiwildride.net for more information.
