A number of facilities reopened on Monday, while some services will resume once the state hits the 80 percent vaccination milestone, and others on December 1.
Kurri Kurri Library, the Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre, Cessnock Performing Arts Centre, Cessnock Civic Indoor Sports Centre and Cessnock Youth Centre and Outreach Service reopened on Monday.
The indoor sports centre will only open to regular hirers at this stage, and won't be taking casual bookings.
CYCOS will be available for community services who hire the venue and for scheduled appointments with young people, and when the state reaches 80 per cent fully-vaccinated, the service will be open for small youth group programs, which will need to be booked in advance.
Kurri Kurri Aquatic and Fitness Centre - which is operated by Belgravia Leisure - reopened on Monday for lap swimming, physiotherapy and the gym, with swimming lessons to return October 18, and recreational swimming at a date to be announced.
Cessnock Library has been undergoing an interior paint job during lockdown, and as work is still in progress, it will not reopen until Monday, October 18. The Click/Call and Collect service will also remain available at the libraries.
There will be strict guidelines in place at these venues to adhere with the Public Health Order, including only opening to fully-vaccinated people. Masks are still required indoors and density limits will apply.
Once the 80 percent vaccination rate is achieved, council will reopen its customer service centre on Vincent Street, and community-based facilities and halls will be able to reopen.
Under the NSW Government Roadmap to Reopening, December 1 will likely see all council facilities and services return to normal.
Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent said is wonderful to see these council facilities reopened and the return of some level of normalcy, but also reminded the community to remain vigilant.
"While our facilities will reopen, there will be strict guidelines in place to adhere with the Public Health Order, including only opening these facilities to fully vaccinated people, and I encourage everyone in our community to do the right thing," Cr Pynsent said.
"With the recent fluctuation of cases in the Cessnock LGA, I encourage those who haven't already, to get vaccinated. This will not only protect yourself and your family, but it will help to support the reopening of local services and businesses."
