The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting rain for the rest of the week as a high pressure system near Adelaide moves slowly east.
Cessnock has received 153.2mm of rain this month, about double its long-term average for November.
Cooler-than-average days are forecast again this week, reaching just 19 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, the BOM has declared a La Nina event, which is expected to bring heavy rain and flooding to the eastern states over the next three months.
