The festival runs from Friday to Sunday across eight venues in the Broke-Fordwich Wine Region - the best-kept secret corner of the Hunter Valley.
There's a 'choose your own adventure'-style wine tasting option where you grab a Festival Starter Kit online and choose four or more cellar doors to visit. From just $30 you will get a take-home Zafferano glass, festival map and a minimum of four tasting experiences that you book at your chosen wineries.
Or, work your way around the special events program, which includes dinners, cocktail making, Italian wine, art and pasta-making workshops.
You could kick off an all-Italian weekend with a casual Benvenuto to Broke dinner at Smokin Hot n Saucy at Somerville Wines, or a more elegant courtyard dining experience at the majestic Margan Wines for their Benvenuta dinner, also on Friday evening.
On Saturday let your inner artist come alive at either Whispering Brook's Art and Sip session, or join renowned artist Felicia Aroney for a still life masterclass at the whimsical Winmark Wines, where art, wine and sculpture is at the fore.
If you're more inclined to learn the art of cocktail making or keen to brush up on your Italian wine skills, let Margan take you into their private theatre for these two curated masterclasses. Cocktails will be led by one of Australia's leading mixologists Ollie Margan, or let dynamic duo Lisa and Andrew Margan impart their love of Italian wine (using some top shelf Italians from their personal cellars) on you over a one-hour tutored tasting.
There are a few seats remaining beyond the Red Door at Greenway where you'll immerse yourself in pasta making or wine and chocolate matching. But be quick as some sessions have sold out.
There's plenty to eat along every step of the way: Mount Broke, known for their fabulous pizza, will be open for lunch and dinner all weekend, and Nightingale have their famous Italian breakfast as well as fabulous all-day Italian-inspired fare from early morning espresso to all-day antipasto. Or if you're after something organic, make sure Krinklewood Wines are at the top of your itinerary offering antipasto and organic wine tastings all weekend.
It's a weekend of food and wine-laden fun to be had in Broke this weekend.
