The Cessnock branch - which turns 71 this year - held a centenary high tea on April 9, and some members are attending the centenary conference at Randwick Racecourse this week.
Branch president Ellice Schrader said CWA supports many different causes.
"The main medical cause gets voted on at state conference by new members, among many other motions effecting the community that then goes onto be lobbied at government level," she said.

CWA has an ongoing disaster fund that raised an incredible $19 million over three years for drought aid, and more recently gave $500,000 towards flood relief, to provide food hampers, essential items and support for women's and children's services.
At a local level, the CWA has recently donated to Guide and Scout groups, the Rural Fire Service, Tonga tsunami relief and ovarian cancer.
New members are always welcome to join the Cessnock branch, which meets at 7pm on the first Monday of the month, and holds a craft/activity/social evening on the third Monday of the month, at 161 Vincent Street.
In honour of the milestone year, the branch has reintroduced its gift basket giveaway for the first baby born in the 2325 postcode closest to Mother's Day this year.
To enter the draw, contact the CWA on 0405 530 193 or 4990 9639, or via its Facebook page (CWA Cessnock Evening Branch).
