NATIONAL TREE DAY
Australia's largest tree planting and nature care event, National Tree Day, is on Sunday, July 31.
Tree-planting sites in the Cessnock area will include Hunter River Reserve, Greta (8.30am start), and Huntlee (meet at the sales office at 33 Rigby Drive at 10am).
Hunter Valley Wine Country Landcare will hold its event on Friday, July 29 from 2pm to 4pm, at 989 Hermitage Road, Pokolbin.
Planet Ark hopes this year's event will help to plant one million trees across Australia. Find out more at treeday.planetark.org.
KIDS' CRAFT
Free kids' craft sessions are held at Kurri Library on Wednesdays at 4pm, and Cessnock Library on Thursdays at 4pm, during school term. The sessions are for primary school-aged children. Bookings are essential; register via eventbrite.com.au.
