Opera legends Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo are joining forces for an Australian tour in 2024. The Spanish crooners performed with the late Luciano Pavarotti as The Three Tenors in the 1990s to global acclaim. In March 2024 the two operatic titans will grace stages alongside a high-profile Australian soprano and a 55-piece orchestra to be led by Maestro David Gimenez. The tour promises an enthralling program with iconic arias, duets and ensembles from much-loved operas, a repertoire of Broadway, Neapolitan songs, and classic hits. Mr Domingo's acclaimed career spanning more than half a century includes 150 roles in more than 4500 performances, 12 Grammys and starring in nine opera movies. He will share the stage with the revered Mr Carreras, who last performed in Australia as part of his final world tour in 2017 and has also collected national and international distinctions. In a video message the pair said they were looking forward to performing down under again. "We are very, very happy that we are going back to Australia - so many years ago we were there," Mr Domingo said. "We are extremely happy we can do it together and to sing for you in different cities and I'm sure we're going to have a great time," Mr Carreras said.
