Members are reminded that our games next week will be at Greta on Wednesday, January 29. New members are most welcome to join us. With the extreme heat at Abermain last Wednesday, play finished early and no winners were declared.
EAST CESSNOCK WOMEN
Names for social bowls to be submitted by 9.30am to begin play by 10am. Winners from last week were V. Harris and T. Jory, J. McKim, C. Andrews and U. Reckenberg, E. Jessop, D. Bailey and D. Huth, L. Pogonoski, N. Loosemore and J. Del-Degan. Names for Club Pairs Championships will close January 22 to begin play on January 29. It was a hot day to begin the new year last week but it was enjoyable to be back.
STONEBRIDGE WOMEN
Bowls will resume on January 30 at 10am with social game. Meeting will be held after game, asking all pennant players to be in attendance.

The first representative side for the year has been selected and the following players will take part in the inaugural Rod Robards Memorial Challenge against Newcastle at East Cessnock Bowling Club on Friday, February 7 at 6pm. A group of Hunter District juniors travelled to Wollongong last week to compete in the South Pacific Junior Championships. The best performance was from Jake Basista of East Cessnock who made it through to the Semi-Final of the Singles Championship. Well done Jake.
Hunter District will host a group of travelling bowlers from North Queensland in February for 17 days. These bowlers will play at all of the clubs in the Hunter District as well as some of the Newcastle and Upper Hunter clubs. Should be a great couple of weeks for these bowlers as well as a great opportunity to showcase our wonderful district.
East Cessnock’s Fours Championship has reached the final and will see Marc Bender, Troy Burton, Daniel Hooker and Michael Cronin take on Shannon Mitchell, Sam Clough, Simon Mitchell and Jon Dimopoulos. Should be a great contest on Saturday, February 8.
Hunter District Championship start this weekend with the Fours and Reserve Fours Championships. East Maitland will be hosting this Championship on their undercover carpet green.
