The event will start at 10am and be held at 14 Hall Street, Cessnock.
All former Home Leaguers and those who would like to find out more about the organisation, are welcome to attend.
Cessnock Home League is a ladies’ fellowship that is based on the four pillars of ‘Worship, Fellowship, Education and Service’.
All women over 16 are invited to attend Home League meetings and joining the Home League does not mean you are joining the Salvation Army.
Yvonne Mills has been a member of the Cessnock Home League for 45 years and said that is a wonderful way to meet new people and have some fun.
“A lot of good friendships are built here,” she said.
“Everyone should come along and enjoy themselves, have a chat and maybe learn a new skill or too.”
Salvation Army Cessnock officer, Lieutenant Darryn Lloyd, said that the Home League is an important meeting point for many women in the community, offering support, guidance, fellowship and friendship for many women over the years.
The Home League meetings each have a particular theme such as Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and often a special guest is invited to speak and share a community minded message.
The Home League program (syllabus) usually includes an outing every now and then too, and once a month, Home League is also opened to allow the men to come along for what is known as ‘In Mixed Company’.
Meetings are held every Wednesday afternoon from 1pm and usually finish around 2.30pm when everyone shares in a hot or cold drink and a light afternoon tea.
Prior to each Home League meeting, there is a Prayer Meeting from 11.45am to 12noon and everyone is welcome to bring along a meal to enjoy with others having lunch before the Home League meeting starts.
