This question could help save a life and help to reduce the 2,400 suicide deaths in Australia each year.
‘R U OK?’ challenges all Aussies to be even better mates by starting life-changing conversations with anyone doing it tough national R U OK Day.
Australian Health Minister Peter Dutton said suicide affects too many Australians with about seven people taking their own life each day.
“We all need to find the time and the courage to support those who need us most,” he said.
“Regular and meaningful conversations are good for us all. Research tell us that strong relationships and a sense of belonging can help protect people from suicide.”
Actor and R U OK? ambassador Simon Baker said there was a need for conversations in communities.
“We have horrible droughts in this country, bushfires and other incidents where Australians band together,” he said.
“We have proven that we have the strength and the power to stand together as a community.”
