Thompson, who earlier this year passed the 4000 winners mark, received the award for the Country Jockey of the Year.
The presentation, held at Sydney’s Four Seasons Hotel, also saw Big Money, trained at Scone by Rod Northam, named Country Horse of the Year.
Thompson had piloted Big Money to a slashing win in this year’s Grafton Ramornie Handicap. Prior to that the gelding had won the Group 3 Healy Stakes in Queensland.
