On Sunday at approximately 8.10am the squad responded to reports of a car that had crashed into a tree on Oakey Creek Road near Ingles Lane, with one person trapped.
Upon the arrival of rescue units and other emergency services, it was found that a male occupant had collided with a large tree and then come to rest on the wrong side of the road some 20-30 metres from the initial point of impact.
Ambulance paramedics began to treat the injured male for a variety of injuries from deep leg lacerations and possible internal injuries.
At this time rescue squad members began working to remove the driver’s door, steering wheel and windscreen using hydraulic cutters to help free the driver.
Once the male was extricated from the vehicle he was further treated for his injuries and transported by road to the John Hunter Hospital.
Oakey Creek Road was closed in both directions until approximately 9.30am until the cleanup and removal of the vehicle was complete.
The rescue squad has also continued to respond to numerous callouts for snakes, mostly in backyards and also in houses.
