Cessnock Cycling Club conducted its 43rd anniversary awards presentation for 2014 at the Station Hotel Kurri last Sunday, with a trophy list of $1900 given out.

The Cyclist of the Year pointscore championships over 52 weeks, the ‘Oscar’ awards, were won by million-kilometre man Clyde Marshall with 264 points, Brian Means (207), Graham Crozier (197), Karen Johanson (174), Shaun Shepherd (173) and Greg Hardes (167) taking the sixth Oscar.
The special appreciation Oscars went to Sandra, Angela, Billy and Di of the Station Hotel.
Kathy Marshall was named Official Of the Year for her work as race starter, timekeeper, judge and on the ladies committee, while Paul Olive received the Visiting Official award.
Major trophy winners were Shaun Shepherd (Time Trial Championships, Tour de Coalfields, Road Championships, Life Members 45km, Easter 44km, Kathy Marshall 56km), Greg Hardes (Time Trial Masters 6, Mother’s Day 45km, Presidents 45km), Peter Marshall (Bill Ebeling Interclub 50km, Carl’s Trophy 28km), Brian Means (Christmas 28km), Brett Shepherd (Time Trial B-Grade championships, Millfield 45km), Paul Murphy (Time Trial Master 7, Open Race 110km), Steve Smart (Visitors President 45km), Robert Pettett (Anzac Day 55km), Graham Crozier (Teams Time Trial Championships 33km, Fathers Day 45km, B-grade road championships, Santa Claus 28km), Clyde Marshall (Time Trial C-grade championships, Time Trial Master 9, Queen’s Birthday 55km, Teams Time Trial Championships 33km, HEZ Birthday 45km, C-grade road championships), Ashley Allen (Newcastle Herald 35km), Roger Powis (Time Trial Masters 4), Karen Johanson (Women’s Time Trial, Anniversary 44km, Memorial Day 35km), Neil Granter (Advertiser 35km, D-grade road championships), Jenny Means (D-grade Queen’s Birthday 26km, K. Marshall D-grade 21km), Johann Sontgerath (Laguna 44km, D-grade Tour 77km) and Brian Young (Teams Time Trial).
Visitors who won trophies were Logan Olive (Australia Day 28km) and Ross Murdoch (Summer 28km).
All guests went home with a gift and all riders received a cycling book donated by the late Don Spencer.
