Cessnock’s Wade Attewell was again felled in the box with Gocha Abshilava easily netting the resulting penalty.
Singleton took the three points with a penalty and a long-range lob to break the Hornets’ hearts. Flanagan’s Menswear players’ player was Liam Stephenson.
The under-23s kept their roll going with a 2-0 win, with goals from Chris Luphahla and young gun Jayden Arriguetti.
Cessnock dominated the game and will look to continue this hot start. Ethan Cross was named Flanagan’s Menswear players’ player.
The under-19s looked brilliant in their crushing 6-2 win, and have really taken big steps since the beginning of the season.
Luke Ford achieved quite a feat during the game, scoring five goals and was deservedly voted Flanagan’s Menswear players’ player.
The under-17s suffered a demoralising 6-1 defeat, with attitude and focus clearly costing them at crucial stages of the game.
Having played so well in recent weeks, this performance should motivate the young ones to turn it around quickly. Flanagan’s Menswear players’ player was again Ewan Gatt.
Cessnock host Toronto Awaba Stags this Sunday at Turner Park, with under-17s at 9.15am, under-19s at 11am, under-23s at 12.45pm and first grade at 2.30pm.
