The Great Cessnock Christmas Elf Challenge is this Friday, which means now is the last chance to finalise costumes to be part of the world record attempt.

Organisers Project Cessnock are calling on you to don your best elf outfit and get along to Baddeley Par to help break the current record of 1762 elves in the one location – set in Thailand.
Project Cessnock co-founder Adrian Buckley said this is a great community event and a chance to bring people together.
The idea came about 12 months ago, when the Carols in the Park were cancelled due to inclement weather.
“Any time something goes wrong there’s an opportunity to make it better,” Adrian said.
“For it [the elf challenge] to turn into what it has in one year just shows you the beauty of good ideas.”
Adrian said the great thing about the challenge is that it is all inclusive and engages all ages.
“This is a great thing for Cessnock and a great thing for the Hunter community,” he said.
“We need more opportunities for people to come together. This is about us putting our best foot forward.
“Saying hey, this is a positive town, it’s a happy town.”
Adrian said if the record is broken on Friday, it will go into next year’s Guinness Book of World Records.
To be a part of this wonderful community event, people are encouraged to download a free ticket from www.stickytickets.com.au/28710; however people are welcome to just turn up on the night if they are not able to download a ticket.
If you do download a ticket, please bring it along on the night to be scanned.
Participants must be dressed in an elf hat and shirt to be a part of the world record attempt.
Hats are available for $5 from East Cessnock Bowling Club, Memo Office and Art, LJ Hooker Cessnock and Fuse Gallery.
The record attempt will be at 6pm, but gates open from 4.30pm.
