Some of the trainees have had experience in other emergency services and others are new to it all.
“These people are willing to give back to the community by volunteering to help people in their time of need,” squad spokesperson James Harris said.
“We look forward to seeing them progress into fully trained professional rescue operators.”
Some of the new volunteers had their first hands-on experience on Monday night using a demonstration vehicle at the South Avenue headquarters.
At the same time, six squad members responded to a call to assist police with lighting on a job at Laguna.
The rescue squad currently has 28 members, including trainees and support members.
