Descendants of Christian Sternbeck are invited to a family reunion at the Wollombi Saleyards on Saturday, June 18.
Christian Sternbeck arrived in Sydney as a convict in 1802 on the Perseus. He married Sarah Miller in 1813.
Sarah had a four-month-old baby, James, at the time of their marriage and Christian raised him as his son. Christian and Sarah had four more children, Ann, George, William and Elizabeth.
Christian received a Ticket of Leave in 1815 and in 1819 bought his first block of land at St Alban’s. Some of the family members remained in St Alban’s and others moved to Murrays Run and the Wollombi area, with later generations spreading all over the state.
The reunion will start at 10am on Saturday. Bring a picnic lunch, chairs and anything else you wish to make yourself comfortable.
The saleyards are located on Paynes Crossing Road, and public toilets are next door in the park.
