The Cessnock RSL Hall is a treasure trove of war memorabilia, and its members have a wealth of knowledge, experience and stories to tell.
The RSL Sub-branch will open its doors with a community open day on Saturday, June 25.
There will be large displays of uniforms, medals, photos, weapons, models and memorabilia from all wars and conflicts, along with classic Army Land Rovers and Jeeps.
Sub-branch member and open day organiser Tony Sheehan said all are welcome to come along and see the local military history, have a talk to the veterans and have their photo taken in a uniform or in front of a vehicle.
Representatives of the Australian Army 8th Combat Service Support Battalion will also be in attendance with information about Defence recruiting.
There will also a be a sausage sizzle and guessing competition.
The hall is located at 70 Wollombi Road. The open day will run from 10am to 3pm.
