East Cessnock Ladies Bowls celebrated winning the Grade 3 pennants, with an unfurling ceremony held at East Cessnock Bowling Club last Wednesday.
The team included Dianne Bailey, Noeline Loosemore, Barbara Crouch, Shirley Sneesby, Sheryl Allen, Julie McKim, Alma Scott, Chris Hallam and Helen Kirby.
The unfurling ceremony was attended by Lorn Park, Maitland City and Cessnock City bowling clubs, who also played during the Grade 3 season.
It was a closely fought contest with the very last game between East Cessnock and Cessnock City deciding the winner of the grade.
Meanwhile, Kurri Kurri and Raymond Terrace grade 1 pennants teams start their state pennants campaigns on Saturday.
Kurri Kurri have been drawn in section one with Tuncurry Beach, Merrylands and Grandviews in the qualifying rounds to be held at Nelson Bay on Saturday and Sunday.
Section two features Ocean Shores, Engadine, Wagga Rules and Wiseman Park Wollongong City
The Hunter’s No. 1 team Raymond Terrace play Cabramatta, Dubbo Railway and Taren Point in section four.
The Hunter’s final team Ettalong has been drawn in section three with Park Beach, St Johns Park and Warilla.
The winners of section one and two play in the first semi-final on Sunday, with section three and four winners meeting in the second semi-final.
The final of the series, which draws teams from the Sydney metropolitan area across the state, is on Monday.
