Cessnock jockey Robert Thompson went on his annual sojourn to the far north coast of Queensland with success at the big annual Townsville Cup race meeting.
Thompson rode at both days of the carnival with day two his best with one winner and three placings. His winner was five-year-old Sebring gelding Rightonque who took out the benchmark 55 event over the metric mile by half a length. His mounts finished fourth in the two $100,000 feature races.
