Fire crews are working to contain a bushfire that has broken out off Charles Street, Abermain on Tuesday afternoon.
No properties are under currently under threat by the 10-hectare blaze, which broke out around 2.30pm.
About 20 firefighters from the Neath, Mulbring, East Maitland and Central Cessnock Rural Fire Service brigades and Abermain Fire and Rescue brigade are on the scene.
RFS operations officer Darrell Tenbosch said the crews are working to establish a containment line and that no properties are under threat.
How the blaze started is yet to be determined, and fire investigators will be looking into the cause.
Westerly winds of up to 45km/h were predicted for Cessnock today.
Fires have also broken out on Vermont Road, Mulbring and Quorrobolong Road, Kitchener on Tuesday afternoon.
