
Cessnock’s representative cricket team made the trip to Scone to take on Upper Hunter in the third round of the state-wide knockout cricket competition.
Cessnock's opening bowlers Matt Tomlinson and Robbie Sidebottom ripped apart Upper Hunter’s top order after they elected to bat.
Sidebottom (5/23) was the chief destroyer and Tomlinson played the supporting role with 2/16 off seven quality overs.
Martin Shearer (1/36) and Cameron Ross (2/39) helped dismiss Upper Hunter for 130 in the 40th over.
With an awkward period to face before the break, Upper Hunter turned the game on its head and had Cessnock in tatters at 4/19 at lunch.
