Mount View High School student Chloe Brown has become the first student from the school to be nominated for HSC music showcase Encore.
Chloe impressed the HSC examiners with her performances of At Last, Cry, On My Own and Bound To You in September, and will submit a video for further judging.
If successful, she will earn a spot at the concert at the Sydney Opera House on March 20.
Chloe has also been accepted into Reprise – a showcase of the Hunter’s top HSC music students, which will be held at the Newcastle Conservatorium on February 17.
The 18-year-old said she was excited to find out she had been nominated for Encore and accepted into Reprise.
She has been singing since she was eight years old and hopes to pursue a career in the music industry.
Mount View’s head teacher of creative and performing arts Larayne Jeffery said Chloe’s success was a credit to her hard work.
“It’s a tremendous achievement,” she said.
“Chloe has put in so much extra work; she has gone above and beyond, as have the fabulous teachers and ex-students that support her.
“The whole school will be behind her.”
