Cessnock resident Barbara Stewart was the lucky winner of a free painting from the Cessnock Uniting Church Art Group’s first Arty-Bald Prize competition.
The group’s exhibition was held at Cessnock Library from October 10 to 26, and including its own fun spin on the Archibald Prize.
Anyone who attended was invited to enter their opinion on an entry form to go into the draw to win a painting.
Ms Stewart chose Margaret Warner’s ‘Forest in Autumn’, which was one of six paintings offered by the art group for the prize.
Group spokesperson Nola McCarthy said the exhibition was a huge success and thanked all who entered the competition.
“With several paintings sold, the Cessnock community is appreciative and supportive of our local talent,” Ms McCarthy said.
The group meets at the Uniting Church hall in Cooper Street on Thursday mornings from 9am to 12.30pm (except school holidays).
