Kurri Kurri High School band ‘M Dawg and the Bois made a great impression at the Hunter high schools rock band exposé, Bandwidth.
The competition was held at the Hunter School of Performing Arts on November 7.
‘M Dawg and the Bois lead singer Emily McGowan-Crook received the award for the vocalist with the most potential.
The judges created the award especially for Emily, in recognition of her vocal skills and stage presence.
Emily will receive vocal training at Vocal Compass studios and is incredibly excited about receiving the award.
She is keen to pursue further study in music – either performing or teaching – after she completes her HSC next year.
“Singing is my life – it’s my biggest passion,” she said.
‘M Dawg and the Bois (Jed Kinch on guitar, Blake Hemphill on bass and twin brothers Tom and Jack Anderson on guitar and drums) have been performing together for about three years ago and have played at several events at school and in the local community.
