Not many people get to compete at state level in one sport, let alone three.
St Patrick’s Primary School student Fletcher Sharpe has achieved this feat, all by the age of 12.
And, he has gone on to compete at national level in two of those sports this year.
Fletcher represented NSW at the School Sport Australia athletics championships last month, placing 10th in the long jump.
He qualified for the national meet after winning silver at the NSW All Schools competition in October (with a personal best jump of 5.27 metres).
Fletcher was also a member of NSW primary schools rugby league team that defeated Queensland to win the national championship in August.
Then last month, he competed at the NSW PSSA cricket championships as a member of the Polding team (Catholic primary schools from Northern NSW).
Fletcher’s athletics coach Jacarna Bain-Fenton said she’s certain he’ll be a success in whatever he pursues.
“He’s got the right attitude and ability,” she said.
