Cale Mackenzie had a brilliant three wicket haul and a run-out assist in Kurri Kurri’s A-grade win over Dungog in the Maitland competition on Saturday.
Mackenzie took 3-16 off four in the 20/20 match at Bowthorne, which Kurri Kurri won by 58 runs.
Kurri Kurri won the toss and batted first, with Nathan Stapleford notching a half century, and James Jackson (34) and Daniel Foster (30) both making good starts.
Kurri Kurri defended their total of 9/168, keeping Dungog to 8/110.
Adam Foster also did some damage with the ball, taking 2-11 off 3.
But Kurri Kurri couldn’t make it two from two, going down to a strong Paterson side.
Paterson won the toss and sent Kurri Kurri in to bat, with the Kookaburras making 8/101. Stapleford (22) again stood up as the top scorer.
Paterson surpassed the total in the 17th over with seven wickets in hand.
Foster, Bradley Hill and John White took a wicket each.
