Thousands flocked to Pokolbin over the weekend to ride some of the world’s biggest waterslides. The first Slideapalooza festival featured three 400-metre inflatable waterslides, along with a 50-metre slide and a children’s obstacle course. It sold out weeks in advance.

Organiser Adam McDonald said the event was a baptism by fire that faced some unexpected challenges and highlights.
“We had one guy propose to his girlfriend halfway down the slide,” he said.
Heavy rain on Thursday night caused issues for water supplies, cutting short Friday’s session. But Saturday and Sunday’s sunny weather ironed out the kinks.
“There’s no blueprint for this, it’s never been done” Mr McDonald said. “We need to pull it apart, see what worked.
“But everyone loved the slide, people were ecstatic.”
Mr McDonald said the team were considering running four 300-metre slides with a pump system next time around. The festival partnered with cancer charity Tour de Cure and raised more than $10,000 for the cause.
