The weekly program is delivered by the Life Skills Group, a leading provider of curriculum-based primary, secondary and professional life skills.
It combines fundamental movement skills, games, yoga, mindfulness and fun.
Topics include positive thinking, building resilience, developing self-regulation, increasing self awareness, building positive relationship skills and strengthening problem solving skills.
The classroom teacher joins the lessons and is able to apply these skills and strategies in the classroom and playground.
Greta Public School relieving principal Sarah-Jane Hazell said the students have had a very positive response to the program.
“Every child is absolutely into it, they are excited to come every week,” she said.
“It gives them a strategy to check in with themselves, and builds relationships between kids and teachers.”
Life Skills Group NSW customer relations manager Danny Lawrence said the program has a focus on community wellbeing and can be tailored to the needs of each school.
Ms Hazell said Greta Public School has been asked to showcase the program to other local schools.
