The breast cancer survivor was announced as the face at the Relay for Life launch and trivia night on Saturday.
It was a huge honour for Ms Moylan, who has a long standing involvement with the charity event and Cancer Council.
After she was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, Ms Moylan went through more than a year of intensive treatment including surgery and chemotherapy.
She marched as a survivor in the first Cessnock relay in 2008, just three months after she got the all clear.
Since them Ms Moylan has held positions of Cancer Council MP liaison, advocate for the Hunter Cancer Action Network and she has also been involved with Coalfields Healthy Heartbeat.
She is also the survivors and carers coordinator for the Cessnock relay.
Ms Moylan said she got involved with the Cancer Council as a way to give back to the organisation that had helped her in so many ways.
She said she has learned that a cancer diagnosis isn’t necessarily a death sentence and that it’s important to stand up and fight against it.
This is a message she hopes to share with others as the Face of Relay.
Ms Moylan said there was something for everyone at Relay for Life.
She said it was a way to honour and remember those who have lost their cancer battle, acknowledge those who have survived the journey and help fund valuable research into the disease.
