Paramedic assaulted
Paramedics were called to attend an address in Edward Street, Cessnock on Thursday in relation to a 28-year-old man complaining of an ankle injury.

Paramedics conveyed the man to Cessnock Hospital and, while there, the man allegedly stole a medical bag from the rear of the ambulance and ran from the location.
One of the treating paramedics gave chase and, after wrestling with the offender, restrained him until police arrived.
During the incident the paramedic sustained injuries to his elbow and knees, and was treated at Cessnock Hospital.
The offender was subsequently charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stealing and breach of bail.
Suspected drugs located in vehicle
Police were patrolling Wollombi Road, Cessnock, on Wednesday when they had cause to stop a motor vehicle with two occupants.
After conducting inquiries police searched the vehicle and located a small plastic container covered in duct tape.
On inspecting the container it was revealed to contain an amount of a white crystalline substance, suspected to be methylamphetamine.
Both the driver and passenger denied any knowledge of the container and its contents. Police are continuing their inquiries.
Noise abatement direction
Police attended a residence in Heddon Greta on Wednesday in relation to a noise complaint.
On attending police were able to audibly hear loud music at a distance of 30-40 metres from the residence.
Police have eventually managed to raise a 34-year-old male occupant, who walked onto the balcony of the residence and refused to supply his name to police before returning inside.
About 10 minutes later police raised the man, who again presented to police in an agitated state.
Police issued the man with a noise abatement direction for 28 days.
Court notice for shoplifting
A 30-year-old man attended Coles Cessnock on Friday, selected a number of products and then left allegedly the store without attempting to pay for the items.
The offender was stopped by loss prevention staff and police were called.
On arrival the offender made full admissions to police in relation to stealing the property, consisting of socks, underwear, deodorant and hair product.
The man was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice to appear before Cessnock Local Court in May.
